March 7, 2000 Meeting Minutes
- There was some continuation on the discussion of how often to update the
pisa box readings. Simone indicated he was planning to update the individual
phototube readings twice daily. Steve Hahn had mentioned that there was a
problem with digital noise when reading out the pisa box voltages. We will
follow up on this to understand what the problems were last run.
- Sam agreed to create a FIX account for Simone and to enable security on
the Pisa Box PC.
- There was also a discussion on what if anything to back up for each of the
SCADA nodes other than the boot partition. There was general agreement that
it makes sense to have the server backup the Dynamics folder and the folder
containing the user local source and compiled code once a week during the
run. Each of the users will send the size of these folders on their PC to
Sam and Mark so that an adequate backup facility can be planned and
implemented. The picture folders on the server are already being backed up.
The plan would be to have one or more "hot spares" which would
already have iFIX and necessary software installed on them. In the event of
a SCADA node failure, the backup could be used to install the files
appropriate to the failed SCADA node, hopefully in a relatively short time.
