The watershed is a relatively small 256 mi2, of which about 45% is urban. It's a rapid developing area and projected to be over 75% urban in 20 years. The reservoir is eutrophic mainly due to phosphorus. The idea is to use the 12-month monitoring data to calibrate and if possible validate the model and then use the model to project and manage the impact of urban growth on nutrient loadings to the reservoir. Three auto-samplers will be installed and samples will be taken to the lab once a week. My questions are: 1) For HSPF calibration, is a daily flow weighted composite sample better than a weekly flow weighted and composite? If the answer is neither one, what's the best way to use these auto-samplers for HSPF? 2) In general, if you have experience in such a monitoring program, any advice is welcome. And if anyone knows of published/unpublished papers/reports on monitoring for HSPF, I would appreciate it very much if you could direct me to them. Thanks!
