A popular pianist with strong, vibrant, yet sensitive style,
Nnenna makes her second appearance in the BSA recital series. She
will perform works by Bach, Mozart and Scriabin.

This BNL fivesome plays traditional music from all sorts
of places, including the British Isles, Europe and North America.
Their instrumentation is array of traditional and untraditional instruments,
including fiddle, english horn, guitar, banjo, bass, bell set, hammered
dulcimer and various percussion.
This current appearance will feature a focus on celtic dances, airs and
songs.

Champion of contemporary music, Zoe returns to BNL with a recital
of exciting works by Gyorgy Kurtag and Steven Bryant, as well as George
Crumb's Makrokosmos II (Twelve Fantasy Pieces for Amplified Piano After
the Zodiac).

The first BSA Noon Recital, in 1999, featured then 11-yr. old Eric
Sun. He returns with a program that will express his maturing romanticism
and pianism.

A senior music major at SUNY Potsdam, Ruth won the NY American String
Teachers Association Senior Division competition last November, and last
summer tied for third place in the American Harp Society National Competition.
Ruth also won the Crane Concerto Competiti
on and performed in the Aspen
Music Festival.
This February, the touring Chamber Orchestra Kremlin
changed their Potsdam concert program to include a work featuring Ruth,
after hearing her perform at a workshop.
Her BNL program will explore
the rich, but little-known literature of solo works for concert harp.

The Jacques Thibaud Trio, on tour from Berlin, will be joined by piano and
bass players to bring Schubert's exquisite quintet known as the Trout
to Berkner Hall. Also on the program is a quintet by Hummel.

Pianofest Director Paul Schenly, who heads the Cleveland Institute of
Music's Piano Department, brings three young pianists to Brookhaven to
give a piano recital that has variety in performer as well as music
performed. Pianofest was founded in 1989 to provide a summer program of
intensive coaching and recital opportunities for talented young keyboard
musicians selected from leading conservatories.
