Waul's Texas Legion

Monument located on Confederate Avenue south of the Texas Memorial (Park Tour Stop #13). The monument for Waul's Texas Legion was constructed at a cost of $300 of which $200 was contributed by Pvt. Henry E. Losey, Company A, 77th Illinois Infantry (Major, U.S.C.T.). The Legion, with the exception of the Cavalry Battalion commanded by Lt. Col. L. Willis, was attached to Maj. Gen. Carter L. Stevenson's Division, Lt. Gen. John C. Pemberton's Army of Vicksburg, and was commanded by Col. Thomas N. Waul, who raised and equipped it and consisted of the following units:
1st Battalion Infantry Commanded by Maj. Eugene S. Bolling.
2nd Battalion Infantry Commanded by Lt. Col. James Wrigley.
Artillery Company Commanded by Capt. J. Q. Wall.
Cavalry Detachment Commanded by Lt. Thomas J. Cleveland.
