One starts with K = nu + pi + e + g. To look like a signal and not be vetoed by the soft gamma from the positron annihilation, e+g should look just like a pi0. For a very slow pi-, in the Lab frame the 4-vector pi- ~ (m_pi,0). Then solve for the 4-vector nu, nu = K - pi -pi0. Squaring nu, one gets 0 = (K - pi - pi0)^2. As I mentioned, although one wouldn't normally know pi, in this case, we have it to a pretty good approximation. Thus if we form this quantity and cut events near zero, that ought to do it. What do you thnk? Is this equivalent to some other cut we're already making?
