There is more and more harmful material available at all hours on most stations. Case in Point - Last Friday's edition of ABC's 20/20 with Barbara Walters and Hugh Downs crossed the line from reasonable journalism to a shocking, dehumanizing, visual assault. Their irresponsible piece on convenience store violence depicted assaults, terror and murder. This segment was "highlighted" by showing the murder of a young man accosted from behind and stabbed repeatedly in the throat. I watched in shock and horror as the life flowed from this poor soul's body. While this show started at 10PM EST it is still reasonable to assume some children and young adults saw this piece. I turned the TV off and felt a sense of violation. While I agree that "graphic scenes" can serve as a wake up call to some individuals this piece clearly pushed the boundaries. What's next?? Perhaps 20/20 can feature a rape caught on film or pedophile in action. I lodged a complaint with ABC and will not watch 20/20 ever again. Please continue pushing your initiatives to improve the quality of TV programming. Our children are counting on you. Respectfully Yours, Jesus M.
