RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
2004-present. United States Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, Northern Plains Agricultural Research Laboratory. Investigating colonization of sugarbeet roots by entomopathogenic fungi transformed with green fluorescent protein, and interactions between biocontrol fungi and bacteria isolated from the rhizosphere of sugar beets (laboratory of Stefan Jaronski).
1996-2004. University of Virginia, Department of Microbiology, Charlottesville, VA. Ph.D. Candidate. Independently researched the role of BtuB loop regions in ligand binding (laboratory of Robert J. Kadner).
1993-1996. University of Calgary Health Sciences Center, Department of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. M.Sc. Candidate. Independently investigated interactions between the Neisseria meningitidis outer membrane lipoprotein, TbpB and host Tf (laboratory of Anthony B. Schryvers).
1990-1993. Louisiana State University Medical Center-Shreveport, Department of Medicine, Pulmonary and Critical Care Division. Research Associate. Ordered supplies and equipment, organized and maintained laboratory. Developed a database for laboratory strains and chemicals, and a spreadsheet for laboratory expenses. Under the direction of Dr. G. Douglas Campbell, Jr., investigated Moraxella catarrhalis iron utilization and iron-regulated outer membrane proteins and toxins.
1989-1990. Mississippi State University, Biology Department. Undergraduate and graduate student. Under the direction of Dr. Franklin R. Champlin, developed and employed a protocol for the determination of the fatty acid ester composition of the major phospholipids from the cell envelopes of Pasteurella multocida and Actinobacillus lignieresii strains.
