SPECIALTIES

Potential field and electromagnetic (EM) geophysics. I develop and utilize gravity, magnetic, and electromagnetic interpretation and measurement techniques for solving subsurface geologic problems.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

Current work:

  • Three-dimensional mapping of the Santa Rosa Plain, northern San Francisco Bay Region, California
  • Geophysical modeling across the central California segment of the San Andreas Fault, including Parkfield, CA
  • Resistivity imaging in eastern Nevada using the audiomagnetotelluric (AMT) method for hydrogeologic framework studies
  • Geophysical studies of the Tualatin Basin, Oregon for understanding the role of Columbia River Basalts in the geohydrologic system
Past research:

My research has focussed on investigating whether ultra-low frequency electromagnetic waves (ULF-EM) are associated with earthquakes with emphasis on data collection and processing. My general objectives are as follows:

Other research
  • Biophysics Project (University of Pennsylvania Dental School, Department of Pathology, Jan. 1995-March 1996): Characterization of Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans leukotoxin pore formation in HL60 cells
  • High Energy Astrophysics Project (University of Pennsylvania, Department of Physics, Summer 1994)
