Description/Abstract The need for light filters to attenuate flashes in plastic scintillators arose in designing apparatus for measurement of the charge composition of primary cosmic rays.^Eight photomultipliers, each of which required a light filter, were arranged horizontally over a length of 50 cm in each of 10 rows of an ionization calorimeter.^It was required that the absorption coefficients of all 80 light filters differ by not more than 3% for light attenuation by a factor of approx.^1000.^Light filters from KN-3 motion-picture film of the Kazan Chemical Plant are described that attenuate scintillation flashes from cosmic particles by a factor of 660 +/- 13.^The stability of the light-absorption coefficients of the films for 15 months is checked.
