Acclaimed American Poet Arthur Sze to Participate in 2002 Standard Chartered International Literary Festival

The U.S. Consulate General in Hong Kong is pleased to sponsor acclaimed poet Arthur Sze to visit Hong Kong to participate in this year's Standard Chartered International Literary Festival, scheduled for April 15-21, 2002.
Arthur Sze, one of America's leading contemporary poets, is a second-generation Chinese-American. He is the author of seven volumes of poetry and the recipient of an American Book Award, a Lannan Literary Award for Poetry, a Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship, three Witter Bynner Foundation for Poetry Fellowships, two National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Fellowships, plus many other awards for poetry. With the publication of The Silk Dragon: Translations from the Chinese in June 2001, Mr. Sze also made his debut as an exceptional translator of Chinese classical poetry. Sze currently directs the Creative Writing Program at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
This year's literary festival brings together extraordinary writers from around the world for a week of exciting events including panel discussions, readings, talks by authors, afternoon tea roundtables, creative writing workshops, book launches and campus visits for the public and school children.
