GLENN RECEIVES AWARD FOR BICYCLE SAFETY

NASA's Glenn Research Center (GRC), Cleveland, recently received the 
Cyclist Friendly Communities Award from the Ohio Bicycle Federation. 
Glenn was recognized for its activities to create an environment 
promoting safe, effective cycling. 

"Safety is the number one priority at NASA, and we are very proud to 
be recognized for promoting bicycle safety among our Glenn family," 
said Glenn Director of Safety and Mission Assurance Vernon W. Wessel.

The award was developed to encourage communities to promote education 
about bicycle operation and to treat cyclists fairly. Glenn is known 
for its extensive and long-lasting effort in teaching and encouraging 
best cycling practices. 

The GRC Organization for Bicycle Information, Knowledge, and Expertise 
(GO-BIKE) encourages employees to use the best and safest cycling 
practices. Educational information is available to them via 
brochures, videos and bicycle driving clinics. The organization also 
has sponsored a Road-1 class, the standard in bicycle education. 

Glenn is the second recipient of the award. The first was the city of 
Vandalia, near Dayton.
