GLANSIS

In 1986, an introduced population was discovered on the Canadian side of Lake Superior in Thunder Bay; the suggested means of introduction in that case was ballast water. Length to 7cm.

In the Great Lakes as deep as 35 m. The usual diet includes aquatic (water) insect larvae, terrestrial (land) insects, waterfleas, worms, snails, and sometimes fish eggs. Length to 7 cm.

A partially plated form is native to the Ontario Basin, but a plated coastal form gained access to the upper lakes in the 1980s. Benthic in the Great Lakes and tributary streams. Feed on small invertebrates. Length to 10 cm.

In the Great Lakes area almost wholly confined to the marginal waters of all the Great Lakes to 120 m including Lake St Clair (but excluding Lake Erie). In cold, quiet waters, salt and fresh. Feed on small invertebrates. Length to 6 cm.
