Location and Accomodations

The workshop will be held in the Meigs Room of the Swope Center at the Marine Biological Laboratory (http://www.mbl.edu/) in Woods Hole Village. The Swope Center is a modern building, picturesquely located on Eel Pond, a pleasant short walk from the harbor, restaurants, the ferry dock bus station, and Woods Hole scientific institutions including the WHOI/MBL library.

Rooms at the Swope Center are available for workshop attendees. The rooms have two single beds and private bathrooms, with shared telephones and computer access in the lobby. (No televisions.) These rooms will be paid for with a USGS purchase order, so those wishing to live onsite should make reservations with Joanne Sedlock (jsedlock@usgs.gov) by close of business, January 25. Conventional hotel rooms are also available in Falmouth. The government per diem is $70 for lodging, $38 for meals and incidentals.

Continental breakfast and café lunch are available on a cash basis at the Swope Center. Dinner may be purchased at the Captain Kidd or Fishmongers Café, in Woods Hole Village, or at numerous Falmouth restaurants.

Directions to MBL are on the web at http://www.mbl.edu/directions/index.html. If you fly to the Providence RI airport, pick up the "from New York" directions at the second bullet. If you prefer public transportation, plan to arrive at Boston's Logan airport. Bonanza Bus (http://bonanzabus.com/)provides service directly from the airport to the Woods Hole ferry dock. Swope Center is a three block walk from the dock. A map can be found online at http://www.mbl.edu/directions/WH.above.jpg.
