TWO ILLEGAL ALIENS INDICTED BY FEDERAL GRAND JURY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Two illegal aliens were charged in separate indictments by a Federal Grand Jury sitting in New Orleans, Louisiana, for violation of federal immigration laws, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

In the first case, JUAN HUMBERTO HERNANDEZ YONES, age 23, a resident of Honduras, was charged in a one-count indictment for illegal re-entry by an alien previously deported. According to court documents, on April 20, 2008, JUAN HUMBERTO HERNANDEZ YONES, an alien who had previously been removed and deported from the United States, was found in the United States within the Eastern District of Louisiana, without have applied the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security for re-admission to the United States.

If convicted, the defendant faces a maximum term of imprisonment of two (2) years, a fine of $250,000.00 and one years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment.

The case was investigated by Special Agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

In the second case, ARISTIDES ZEPEDA YZAGUIRRE, a/k/a Emilio Jose Izaguirre Mayorsa; a/k/a Emilio Jose Mayorga; a/k/a Emilio Isaguirre, age 34, a resident of Nicaragua was charged in a two-count indictment for possession of a counterfeit Permanent Resident Alien Card and misuse of a Social Security Number.

According to court documents, on March 18, 2008,ARISTIDES ZEPEDA YZAGUIRRE, an illegal alien, was found with a counterfeit Permanent Resident Alien Card. The indictment also charges that on July 28, 2006, ARISTIDES ZEPEDA YZAGUIRRE, used a Social Security Number that was not assigned to him to gain employment.

If convicted,ARISTIDES ZEPEDA YZAGUIRRE faces a maximum term of imprisonment of ten (10) years, a fine of $250,000.00 and three (3) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment.

The case was investigated by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Social Security Administration.

U. S. Attorney Jim Letten reiterated that an indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendants must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

These cases are being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney W. Scott Laragy.
