PIANIST KATHLEEN BOYD TO PERFORM AT BROOKHAVEN LAB, OCT. 7

 

Upton, NY - The U. S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory will present a concert featuring pianist Kathleen Boyd on Tuesday, October 7, at 8 p.m. in the Laboratory's Berkner Hall. The concert is open to the public, and a donation of $6 per person is suggested.

Kathleen Boyd has performed as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe. She has won several awards, including the State University of New York at Stony Brook concerto competition in 1994 and a fellowship for a three-month artistic residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts in Alberta, Canada, in 1995. Ms. Boyd holds degrees from Oberlin Conservatory and the Hannover Academy of Music in Germany, and she is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in piano performance at Stony Brook.

The program for the concert consists of Mozart's Sonata in D major, K. 576; Alban Berg's Sonata, Opus 1; Maurice Ravel's Jeux d'eau; Claude Debussy's L'Isle joyeuse ; and Chopin's Impromptu #1 in A flat major, Op. 39; Mazurka in A minor, Op. 59, #1; Mazurka in F minor, Op. 63, #2; Mazurka in C sharp minor, Op. 63, #3; Nocturne in E minor, Op. 72, #1; and Sonata in B minor, Opus 58.
