THE EAST ENTRANCE

When you enter the White House through the East Wing, you are greeted by the first of three retrospective holiday trees; it stands in the East Garden Room, and is decorated with angel ornaments that were crafted by American artisans for the Clinton's first holiday at the White House in 1993.

In the East Foyer is the 1994 holiday tree, trimmed with ornaments representing the "Twelve Days of Christmas" as interpreted by American art and design school students, as well as the National Society of Tole and Decorative Painters.

Mrs. Clinton in the East RoomAlso in the East Foyer , is the retrospective exhibit of White House Christmas cards dating back to the Eisenhower Administration. Showcased here, "White House Nocturne 1997, South Lawn," by local artist, Kay Jackson; it is the original painting from which the official 1997 card was created.

The White House Library is the site of the tree which honors holiday 1995 and 1996. The tree is decorated with a mixture of ornaments from architects and architecture students that reflect the theme " Twas the Night Before Christmas," and ornaments created by woodworkers and ballet companies in the theme of "The Nutcracker."
