A diagram is captioned "Figure 1. Valve Assembly and Gas Transfer Setup".
The diagram shows a long slender valve assembly with some of its internal
parts identified.  The valve outlet leads to a gas chromatograph.  The valve
is threaded down at one end for securing it to a base.  A quarter inch copper
tubing from a gas sample bottle is inserted perpendicular to the valve body
through a porthole.  A needle shaped member called "stem tip" with a very
fine vertical-adjustment capability can be lowered on the copper tubing which
will pierce through the tubing and release the gas to the outlet port (gas
chromatograph).  A fine dialing handle similar to a micrometer combined with
a bellows accomplishes the fine adjustment of the stem tip.
