Nominating Mental Health Consumers

If you are interested in submitting a nomination(s) for the 2009 Voice Awards, please follow the guidelines outlined below.

Nominating Writers and Producers
If you know of a production (or have created or contributed to a production) that will have been released between October 1, 2007, and March 15, 2009, that reflects a dignified, respectful, and accurate depiction of people with mental health problems, please consider nominating it for a 2009 Voice Award. Nominations are open to anyone, are free, and there is no limit to the number an individual can submit.

To make a nomination, tell us where and when you saw the production you wish to nominate. If possible, please also indicate the following information:

  1. Title of production
  1. Format of production
    1. Series, episode, feature, or documentary
  1. Type of production
    1. Drama, comedy, reality, other (please specify)
  1. Date and time of initial public release
    1. For TV: Date and time the program aired
    2. For film: Movie studio
  1. Name(s) of writer(s) or producer(s)
  1. Episode name or number (if applicable)
  1. Reason for nomination (you may attach one additional page if you need more room)
  1. Your contact information (OPTIONAL—you may nominate anonymously)
    1. Name, address, phone, and/or e-mail

When nominating, please be as specific as possible, and if available, forward a DVD or videocassette of the production you are nominating. At a minimum, include the production’s title and date, time, and outlet (TV network or channel, cable network or channel, movie studio, etc.) of initial public release.

Please mail your nomination to the address below or e-mail the requested information to voiceawards@vancomm.com. Nominations are open to anyone, are free, and there is no limit to the number of nominations an individual can submit.

Nominating Mental Health Consumers
For the purposes of the Voice Awards, the term “mental health consumers” is defined broadly as individuals who have received or are receiving mental health services for a mental health problem.

If you know a mental health consumer who has made outstanding contributions in all of the following areas, please nominate them for a 2009 Voice Award (self-nominations are welcome):

Additional consideration will be given to nominees who have made a positive impact within special populations, such as racially and ethnically diverse groups and young adults ages 18 to 25.

To make a nomination, please submit the following:

Nominations can be made by anyone, are free, and there is no limit to the number an individual can submit. All nominations should be sent by e-mail to voiceawards@vancomm.com. If you do not have access to the Internet through a personal or business computer, keep in mind that most communities have libraries with free Internet access. While e-mail entries are strongly encouraged, if you do not have access to a computer, paper entries can be faxed or sent via snail mail to:
