She shared a low fat recipe with a health group who she probably thought were reasonable people. She stated that it had Aspartame in it. That is all. She did not state that everyone should eat it. She put it out there to let people make their own choice. As far as good journalism, I would say she is a good journalist. She put the facts out there and let the public decide if they want to use that information or not. Your kind of journalism is, this is what you should think, if you don't think the same way as me, then you must be an evil person that works for an industry that wants to kill us all. I can't call what you do journalism, I call it playing on peoples fears, to propagate your agenda. I also find it sad that we were banned from your discussion group for having a different view on how to treat people, and the way you get your message out. If you notice not once have we ever disagreed with you about aspartame, or said that it was a good product. What we have been trying to say is you shouldn't treat people like you do, if you want them on your side. Instead of reasoning like you stated, your group went on the attack, saying she didn't know what she was talking about, and that basically that anyone that does not agree with you should never post anything on the internet. I'm not sure of this, but didn't Jesus love everyone, no matter what they believed, and would try to persuade them with love, patience, and understanding. You can go on quoting scripture all day long, but it doesn't mean anything until you start living it. I really get disgusted with people, who treat other people with disdain, and then hide behind their religion, to make it o.k. Have a nice day -----Original Message----- From: Dr. Betty Martini [mailto:Bettym19@mindspring.com] Sent: Wednesday, December 01, 2004 4:27 PM To: Gordon, Randy HS; Gordon Cathy; becky@thefoodsyndicate.com Cc: DHATTAN-CFSAN.FDA.GOV; RXH-CFSAN.FDA.GOV; Jaffe Lyle D; inforeply-cdc.gov; Gordon, Randy HS Subject: Aspartame/Splenda and response to Cathy and Randy Gordon Dear Cathy and Randy, Since you appear to be both writing as you pointed out, one of the things you might consider is reasoning power. If you were a writer of children's books and the only thing you wrote about was snakes, would one expect you to know something about snakes? Would you write about a certain terrain and then simply say and they have lots of rattlesnakes in this area. Or, would you write and say this is a great place to visit but beware of rattlesnakes since their venom is poisonous. This is how you protect yourself, etc., Becky's email says "the food syndicate", would you expect her to know something about food? Since aspartame is used by 70% of the population and 40% of children, and is an ingredient is an estimated 9000 products would you expect her to know what it is and whether its safe or not. Had I been writing the same article I would have mentioned that while a certain product has little fat it does have the neurotoxic drug aspartame and therefore cannot be used. That's good journalism. This reminds me of a woman had grand mal seizures from aspartame and when she read aspartame is a seizure triggering drug she stopped and the seizures stopped. Then a writer from a front group convinced her it was all a hoax and she used aspartame again, had a grand mal seizure and almost died. Bad journalism can result in loss of life. And I stand by everything I said. Yes, I'm a student of the Bible and that is why I do this, as I'm not an aspartame victim myself but scripture says: "Deliver those being taken away to death and those staggering to the slaughter. O may you hold back. In case you should say: "Look! We did not know of this' will not He that is making an estimate of hearts discern it, and pay back to earthling man according to his activity? Proverbs 24:11 God puts life and death before us, and we get to choose. I've been doing this 13 years and the aspartame industry knows they are killing people. Writers continue to defend aspartame for dollars or ignorance. Many victims in the aspartame support groups suffer terribly from this poison. They can be chemically hypersensitive the rest of their life. Some lost spouses, jobs, homes or family members in death. You don't get to annoy them because they want to warn others or have their say. And I will always support and defend these victims until we can get this garbage off the market. I do not have a personal vendetta against the FDA. The two FDA toxicologists who exposed aspartame until their death were heros. The FDA at that time was many times called the "intact FDA". I'm opposed to those in leadership at the FDA who make all the wrong decisions because their loyalty is to the pharmaceutical and chemistry industry instead of the public. Like FDA toxicologist, Dr. Adrian Gross told Congress in his summation, "And if the FDA violates its own laws who is left to protect the public?" The point is we don't have a protector. Those responsible to solve the problem ARE the problem. There was a recent hero in the FDA who spoke out who got a standing ovation when he returned to the FDA, but is now being moved so he can be silenced. As to the herbs you don't know the half of it, they found out which herb helps the most and sent out the Forestry to spray an herbalists land and areas where the herb grew. One of the Forestry members who helped in the actual spraying said he was told to do it because herbs are suppose to be dangerous. So here's a formula many have used who once had cancer while the FDA allows millions to perish from the fatal diseases and tumors triggered by this deadly neurotoxin . One article says 55,000 have perished from Vioxx, and that's a drop in the bucket compared to deaths from aspartame and the millions of babies murdered in their mother's womb because the FDA steadfastedly refuses a warning. And if you think my writing is strong read Dr. Blaylock's note to the Miami Herald on www.wnho.net I have great respect for those who have the courage to state the facts and great contempt for those who know the facts and continue to lie to the public, which lies can cause their death. You can't win this argument. Leave the victims alone. Today the front page of the Business Section of the Atlanta Journal Constitution has an article, The Price of Sweet Success. At the bottom of the page it says: "Sources, Tate & Lyle, McNeil Nutritionals, news services, and staff research." Mr. Leith actually tells the public how Splenda is made: "Three hydrogen oxygen groups on sugar molecules are replaced with chlorine atoms. He even discusses the controversy: "A company that makes a rival product, Equal, just sued McNeil on claims of misleading marketing for Splenda. The lawsuit alleges McNeil has made consumers think Splenda is a natural product. McNeil, however, disputes the claims. Also, as with other artificial sweeteners, some question the health effects of sucralose, although it has undergone extensive testing. It was approved for use in the US in l998. " Has not the aspartame industry misled the public? You should read the congressional record. But the article could have been great if the writer had only known that aspartame can trigger polychemical sensitivity syndrome and if someone goes from aspartame to sucralose they can have terrible reactions, and they are. And how about if the writer had told the public that with sucralose being a chlorinated hydrocarbon it can cause autoimmune disease like Dr. H. J. Roberts has said. Also the writer could have written about what original research showed. If he had he could have saved a lot of people from using it. Unfortunately I'm constantly getting sucralose reactions reported. If you go to www.wnho.net and click on aspartame you not only see a lot of Dr. Mercola's research on it but also a serious reaction. One might ask the FDA a logical question: "If you outlawed DDT why approve sucralose, a chlorinated hydrocarbon?" I wouldn't expect an answer. I wrote a petition for ban on aspartame. The law says the FDA must answer it within 180 days. It's been well over 2 years and the FDA refuses to answer it and serves above the law. That's something else I have against the FDA. The second title on the Splenda article is Shortage of Popular Splenda Makes Drink Makers Nervous. What should the title really be? How about: "Popularity of Splenda grows but most of the public in the dark that sucralose is a chlorinated hydrocarbon that can trigger autoimmune disease." That would be the truth and probably no Editor would allow it. Therefore, there will always be a Mission Possible to alert the public and remain Watchdog of the FDA, until these poisons are off the market and we have a regulatory agency who will give its loyalty to the public and prevent approval of unsafe food and drugs.
