The expanded recall includes the following products:
  • 12 oz. cans of "Al Haloub Cow, TURKEY LUNCHEON MEAT" bearing the message "Best if Used by Date 061507" on the top, and the code "40474 03 EST P7220A" and "1674 PTW" on the bottom. This product was distributed to wholesale and retail establishments in California, Florida, Illinois, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, and Texas.

  • 12 oz. cans of "PICNIC, HALAL, TURKEY Luncheon Meat" bearing the message "Best if Used by Date 092807" on the top, and the codes "40474 03 EST P7220A" and "2724 PTW" on the bottom. This product was produced solely for export to Holland.

  • 12 oz. cans of "PICNIC Turkey Luncheon Meat." bearing the message "Best if Used by Date 062407" on the top, and the codes "40434 03 EST P7220A" and "1764 PTW" on the bottom. This product was distributed to wholesale and retail establishments in Puerto Rico.

  • 12 oz. cans of "PICNIC Turkey Luncheon Meat." bearing the message "Best if Used by Date 080407" or "Best if Used by Date 100507" on the top, and the codes "40434 03 EST P7220A" and "2174 PTW" or "2794 PTW" on the bottom. This product was distributed to wholesale and retail establishments in Puerto Rico.
The products were produced on various dates between June 15 and October 19, 2004.

The original recall on November 3, 2004 included 12 oz. cans of "PICNIC Turkey Luncheon Meat" produced on June 24, 2004. Each can bears the message "Best if Used by Date 062407" on its top, and the codes "40434 03 EST P7220A" and "1764 PTW" on its bottom. Each label bears the establishment number "7220-P" inside the USDA mark of inspection.

Problem/Reason for Recall:
The products may be underprocessed.

How/When Discovered:
The problem was discovered by a wholesale customer who notified the company of swollen cans. The original recall on November 3, 2004 was expanded on November 8, 2004 after it was discovered that further products produced on various dates between June 15 and October 19, 2004 may have been underprocessed.
