“HIPAA Folklore” as a Barrier to Health Information Exchange in Florida

• One major misinterpretation of HIPAA was that is prevented any health care information from being exchanged.

• This “HIPAA Folklore” rationale was cited by numerous providers for why they could not exchange health care data with a RHIO.
