Abstract: THE LEVELS AT WHICH THE GIRLS WERE COMPARED WERE PUBLIC COMMUNICATION-A PREDICTOR OF THE IMPACT A PERSON MAKES ON OTHERS, CONSCIOUS COMMUNICATION-HOW A PERSON SEES HIMSELF AS RELATING TOWARD OTHERS, AND PRIVATE PERCEPTION-THE EXPRESSION OF THE IMAGINED AND THE FANTASIED. NEGLECTED SUBJECTS WERE STUDENTS AT A STATE SUPPORTED INSTITUTION FOR NEGLECTED AND DEPENDENT CHILDREN. THE DELINQUENT GROUP CONSISTED OF GIRLS FROM A STATE INSTITUTION FOR DELINQUENT GIRLS. A CONTROL GROUP OF FEMALE JUNIOR AND SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WAS EMPLOYED. THE RESULTS OF THIS STUDY SUPPORT THE IDEA THAT DELINQUENT AND NEGLECTED GIRLS ARE SIMILAR PEOPLE BUT WITH SOME SLIGHT AND CONSISTENT DIFFERENCES WHICH DISTINGUISH THEM FROM ONE ANOTHER. APPENDICES CONTAIN STATISTICAL TABLES. BIBLIOGRAPHY. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
Index Term(s): Behavioral science research/ ; Personality/ ; Perception ; Female juvenile delinquents
