At Big Spring's "Ozarks Depression Homestead"

Join us for a celebration of Ozark heritage! A variety of activities and programs will take place to help us all enjoy and understand the history of the Ozark people. All activities take place at the new "Ozarks Depression Homestead" located near the Big Spring.

All Programs are free and all are welcome.

School and homeschooler groups are welcome!

- blacksmithing (gig making)

-Sassafrass paddle making
- skidding logs with team of oxen
- quilting
- soap making

- spinning and weaving
- caning (weaving) ladder back chairs with hickory
- traditional Ozark woodworking
 
Demonstrations 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
 
Bryan Culpepper demonstrates an old time
corn sheller to an audience eager to help.
A blacksmith demonstrates how everyday necessities were made.

Mollie, Pioneer Woman
 
Learn about life on the frontier through the eyes of Mollie, a pioneer woman lovingly returned to life through the talents of professional storyteller Dianne Moran.

Live Music

Gather round the porch of the Depression Homestead at Big Spring for a musical look back at the "good old days." Enjoy Bluegrass as well as the traditional mountain music from which it sprang.
