Description: Annual herb less than 2 feet (60cm) tall. Leaves linear, smooth edged, without hairs, and 1 1/2 - 6 inches (4-15cm) long. Inflorescence are heads with many disk flowers, and 7-15 orange-yellow ray flowers, each ray (ligule) 1/8 - 9/16 inches (4-14mm) long. Heads contain 10-14 fused bracts (phyllaries) without hairs, 1/4 - 3/8 inches (5-10mm) long. Fruit are oblong to oblanceolate, gray and smooth achenes, less than 1/8 inch (3.5mm) long, with wart-like hairs.  

Distribution:

Habitat: Saline places, vernal pools. Elevation 3.2 - 3904 feet.

Flowering Period: Blooms February to June.
