Idaho Springs Senior Housing Project – One of a Kind

 Information by State
 Print version

When completed, Project Support Housing II will be a one of a kind (Section 202) senior housing project in Idaho Springs, Colorado. The innovative three-story condominium style building will include 16 residential units and commercial space that will be used as a Thrift Shoppe. The first floor common spaces will include an office, a maintenance room, 2 small mechanical rooms, a small trash room and a loading dock complete with a conveyor belt for the Thrift Shoppe. The basement will be used for the Thrift Shoppe operation and will be built with funds raised from the local community. Approximately 30 volunteers, some of them residents, will staff the Thrift Shoppe and its support facility. The second floor will be used for the residential portion of the building and will have three small sitting areas and a small laundry room. The Thrift Shoppe will serve as the heart and soul of the community, a place where people will meet and visit with friends;

the volunteers will remain tied to their community, knowing that their services support the mission of this organization. This project is vital to the senior population in Clear Creek County, and is fully supported by the community. Over a million dollars from local municipalities has been raised to support the construction of Project Support Housing II. The project is currently under construction and is due to be completed during the summer of 2007.
