No. 10: Courtesy of Department of Natural Resources. Detail of the "trait quarré" dividing the St. Louis Common Field, the first concession of commonfield lots from Cul de Sac Prairie, the second concession of the commonfield lots. Motard's field lot was south of Chouteau's tract, east of the "trait quarré," and joined Captain James MacKay's grant. Captain MacKay had drawn a 1500 mile map of the upper Missouri in 1797 and lent it to Lewis and Clark in 1804.
