Data Products ›› Data Notifications International Border Data Gap/Overlap: Data gaps or overlaps appear between U.S. international borders with Mexico and Canada and LANDFIRE data layer boundaries. Background: Multi-Resolution Land Characteristics (MRLC) map zone boundaries consistently do not match the U.S. international borders by approximately 1 to 3 km. Therefore, LANDFIRE data layers, which are delineated by MRLC map zones, are rarely coincident with adjacent international borders. Data may fall short or extend beyond the international border by approximately 1 to 3 km in some areas. This is not unique to LANDFIRE but is characteristic of any effort that is using MRLC data. Advice: Data will continue to be served according to MRLC map zone boundaries. The LANDFIRE Project does not have the technical capacity to correct this. Making these types of corrections is not within the scope of the project. |
