NFRI International Symposium on Food Safety2003

DATE:November 6th - 7th, 2003
PLACE:Tsukuba International Convention Center (EPOCAL TSUKUBA), Tsukuba, Japan
OBJECTIVE: National Food Research Institute is going to research a microorganism management system for food safety in cooperation with four (USA, UK, GERMANY, FRANCE) international research groups at organizations which are active in related fields. This project will contribute to the development of a microorganism management system and help to establish the food safety standard in Japan and also international food safety standards.

This project has a five-year duration, from 1999 through 2003 with funding from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), Japan. In this symposium, the results of four subject joined with foreign research activities (introduce below) in this project will be announced and some invited speaker will give general talk about food safety. We will hope this symposium contribute for the research of food safety in Japan and world.

The detail of this symposium is indicated in the program.

Research subjects and research team
  1. Prevention of mycotoxin contamination in agricultural products and fermented foods With Institute for Microbiology and Toxicology, Federal Center for Meat Research, Germany

  2. Food safety enhancement for fresh produce with Eastern Regional Research Center (ERRC), Agricultural Research Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S.A.

  3. Collaborative study of evaluation methods for safety on food and feed materials with Central Science Laboratory, MAFF, UK

  4. Development of Evaluation system for Food Processing With Predictive Microbiology with Lillie research center of INRA, France
