Eye Washes & Deluge Showers - Summary

Planning and safety precautions cannot prevent all accidents from occurring.  In terms of eye injuries, rapid and effective response is critical to preventing lasting injury.  In this section, we discuss how we identified areas which represented potential hazards that appeared to necessitate the installation of emergency eyewash units.  We have also presented the operational standards recommended by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration as well as shortcomings associated with some commercially available eyewash units.
