India’s energy program discussed at Director’s Colloquium

Baldev Raj of the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Department of Atomic Energy in India, spoke to Laboratory employees Tuesday about India’s Fast Reactor program. Raj spoke in detail about the three-stage nuclear power program in India, noting that the building blocks India follows are key to its success.

He explained how important it is that nuclear power and the environment work together. "All science breakthroughs are extremely important. We are learning by experience and learning by science,” said Raj.

Raj is a member of the Indian National Science Academy as well as the Indian National Academy of Engineering. He received a bachelor’s degree from Ravishankar University, a doctoral degree from the Indian Institute of Science, and a doctor of science degree from Sathyabama Deemed University.
