TURNING GOALS INTO REALITY CONFERENCE IS FOR EVERYONE The NASA Administrator and the Aeronautics and Space Transportation Technology (ASTT) Enterprise will sponsor an inaugural Turning Goals into Reality (TGIR) conference at NASA Lewis Research Center on October 9. This conference will bring together key government and industry representatives to discuss critical issues in our nation's aviation and space transportation systems. These issues are captured in ten bold goals that will have a dramatic impact economically, politically, and socially. Utilizing the Internet, the conference will be made available to the nation. It is a chance for the general public, educators and students to find out real-time what is happening in NASA's programs, how the results will affect their lives, and what the future might bring. The conference will be cybercast live through NASA's Learning Technologies Project's (LTP) Learning Technologies Channel (LTC). Furthermore, three preliminary chat sessions designed to familiarize the NASA family, its stakeholders and the general public on each of the 3 Pillars and 10 Technology Goals will be offered beginning September 23. These chat sessions will be produced by Langley's LTP Office. In advance of the October 9 conference, a number of activities that are primarily satellite- and Internet-based have been planned. These activities are organized for three major audiences: K-12 educators, the public, and university/industry. In addition, links to NASA Facts, educational resources, and the Enterprise's 1997-98 Annual Progress Report are integrated into the Web site. Sample activities are highlighted below. Further details on each of the programs can be found at the Conference Web site. You are invited to participate in the activities and are encouraged to share information about this unique opportunity with others. A calendar of events can be found under "What's Happening" on the Conference Web site at http://www.hq.nasa.gov/office/aero/conf98/. ******************************************* Turning Goals Into Reality Electronic Activities Three Pillars ichat Sessions (3-4 p.m., ET) Chat with NASA researchers about conference topics.
