I am a signee of the national "Do Not Call Registry." I do this because no one has the "right" to dial my telephone number to barrage me with their "garbage." I have a phone for the specific purpose of personal use. I call friends and certain business, ie., the doctor, the vet, and often the phone company to complain about hidden taxes/fees. The argument that the phone spammer has the right under the 1st Amendment is ludicrous. My phone is on the premises of my private property. If this same person stood at my front door spouting his foolery, I could have him arrested as a trespasser and inciting a riot. Why is my phone line any different? And now, you want to allow these idiots to dial and leave messages! How asinine! If you are foolish enough to allow these unwanted pestering phone calls, then establish a "opt-in" option. I, and some 60 plus million others, do not, I repeat, do not want these intruding, unwanted, and time consuming, not to mention money-wasting, phone calls/messages. I am going to demand a Senate/Congressional investigation into the mis-management at the Federal Trade Commission. Anyone who would say that "it (the FTC) does not believe the change would have any dramatic results. Makes one wonder, who is making money on this deal? Quite frankly, the FCC's ruling that pre-recorded telemarketing messages are ok is still subject to be changed. My representatives will be looking into this as I and others will protest this ruling to the hilt. The Voice Mail Broadcasting organization is no less vile than the spammers who flood email boxes with every fraud and porn site fodder imaginable. Do not open the flood gates any further to these predators of advertisements and pleas for business. If I want their wares, I will look them up in the phone book and call them. Otherwise leave me alone. That is not a request, it is an order.
