CBP Officers Make 2nd Large Marijuana Bust In As Many Days at El Paso Commercial Cargo Facility

El Paso, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers working at the Bridge of the Americas commercial cargo lot at the El Paso, Texas port of entry seized 1,831 pounds of marijuana late Friday afternoon. The drugs were concealed in the floor of an empty trailer.

The seizure is the second large drug load discovered in a commercial truck in as many days at the El Paso port. On Thursday, CBP officers at the Ysleta cargo lot seized 1,757 pounds of marijuana.

directed the rig to the cargo X-ray unit for closer examination. A CBP officer determined that there was a suspicious area in the floor of the trailer. CBP detector dog "Q" searched the trailer and alerted to the floor. CBP officers drilled into the floor, revealing a substance that tested positive for marijuana. CBP officers then removed a total of 1,530 marijuana-filled bundles from the floor compartment. No arrests have been made at this time.

The Thursday night seizure was made just after 8 p.m. when a rig entered the compound and was sent for secondary examination. CBP detector dog "Bonnie" alerted to the front wall of the trailer. CBP officers drilled into the wall, revealing a substance that tested positive for marijuana. CBP officers removed a total of 81 bundles of marijuana from the compartment. No arrests have been made at this time.
