Summary
A broad range and size of geological specimens, suitable for display purposes, was collected from the Ross Dependency, to give the public a better knowledge of the type of rocks outcropping in the Ross Dependency. An equally wide range of representative specimens from different formations and lithological types, was collected to create a detailed rock and fossil reference collection at the museum, to be available for visiting geologists. These were supplemented with site photographs and descriptions. The areas visited included the Taylor Valley near Lake Bonney, Carapace Nunatak, Mt Aeolus, Shapeless Mountain and Mt. Fleming.
