Description/Abstract We investigate the structure of a general multiloop amplitude in open-bosonic-string theory.^We show that any connected part of the {ital S} matrix can be constructed from three kinds of multiloop tadpole, one-loop nonplanar self-energy, and trees due to duality.^A separate discussion for the unconnected part is also given.^Some rules for calculating a general multiloop amplitude and explicit results for the nonorientable and nonplanar multiloop amplitudes are given in the framework of the Becchi-Rouet-Stora-Tyutin-invariant operator formalism.
