This task is almost purely speculative because the console is not yet complete.
Prerequisites
You must meet the following conditions before continuing with this task:
You must be able to login to the JBoss AS7 Console with an administrator account.
You must have the user account and password that will be used by the data source to connect to the database server.
Procedure 10. Create a New JDBC Data Source
Login to the Administration Console
Open the Administration Console, http://serveraddress:9990/console/, in your web browser and login with your administrator account details.
Navigate to the JDBC Data Source Configurations
Click on Profiles.
Click on Subsystems.
Select the Profile that you want to add the new Data Source to.
Select the Datasources item in the subsystem list.
Click on the Data Sources tab.
You are now looking at the list of Data Sources for the profile.
Click the Add button
Click on the Add button and the "Create New Data Source" form will appear.
Fill in the required details for your datasource
Fill in the required details for your new datasource in the form.
JNDI name for this data source, e.g. java:/AccountsDB
The JDBC Driver, e.g. org.mysql.Driver
The Username and password for the database server user account
[add other details not yet known here]
Check the "Is enabled?" checkbox.
If the "Is enabled?" checkbox is checked then the data source will be available to application immediately. To save the data source configuration but not yet make it available then leave this checkbox unchecked.
Click Save
To save the new data source configuration click the Save button. The data source configuration is saved and the view returns to the list of data sources.
Result:
The new data source is created. The data source will be available for applications if the "Is enable?" checkbox is checked.
