What is the recommended method of running JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) as a Windows Service? Is there a Red Hat or JBoss native solution to run JBoss SOA-P as a Windows service? Is Tanuki Software's Java Wrapper our only choice for running as a Windows service? Need to understand how to convert the server into a windows service Environment JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) 5.x 4.x JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform (EPP) 4.x JBoss SOA Platform (SOA-P) 4.x Microsoft Windows Server 2003 SP2 Server 2003 64-bit SP2 Resolution To run JBoss EAP as a service on windows you can use JBoss Native This is the preferred method of running the JBoss application server component as a Windows Service. The latest release of JBoss Native is pre-configured for JBoss Application Server (AS) 5 and its default settings should be updated for use with your specific deployment of the JBoss application server component. Also see Instructions from EAP 5.1.0 Release Notes Pre EAP 5.x, it can be downloaded from http://jboss.org/jbossweb/downloads/ otherwise it's available from the support portal N.B JBoss Native is not supported for EAP 4.2.0 and EAP 4.3.0. Red Hat Global Support Services will however, try to offer best effort support with active entitlements. Tanuki Software's Java Service Wrapper A community version of Java Service Wrapper is offered and maintained by Tanuki Software, Ltd. Please see their website and project page for details on licensing and support. It can be downloaded from http://wrapper.tanukisoftware.org/doc/english/download.jsp This is offered by Tanuki Software, Ltd. which is not affiliated with Red Hat, Inc. See their community site site for Instructions from community . N.B Though you may see references to wrapper.conf in your JBoss Native windows zip files, it is not supported by Red Hat ** Using JavaService is not recommended, as there are issues with it setting thread stack size.
