CES 2013 - We appear to be the only ones talking about Antec's new TrueQuiet 120 fans, and it's a good thing we are because they are pretty cool. The TrueQuiet 120s are engineered to reduce the noise produced. Antec has managed this by putting the outside frame closer to the blades, as you can see in the picture below.
As you can see, they come in a multitude of colors, with some featuring LEDs in the chassis and others with a glowing ring around the outside. Some aren't lit at all and come in a classy white or black color. You can tell the TrueQuiet 120 series apart from the rest by the orange anti-vibration corner pads.
Leaked specifications on the next-generation Xbox are here thanks to a user on Chinese forum TGFC, this user 'BD' claims to be an ex-Ubisoft employee and has leaked specification on the upcoming next-gen console from Microsoft.
BD has claimed that the next-gen Xbox will sport an AMD 8-core processor, 8GB of RAM, an AMD Radeon HD 8000 Series GPU, Windows 8 kernel and a 640GB HDD. If these specs are true, we're looking at production specs and not a prototype - we're close enough to the unveiling which should be at this years' E3.
Microsoft are going to face some fierce competition this time round, and so will Sony and Nintendo. We have the smaller Ouya console, NVIDIA's recently announced Project Shield and the biggest competitor in my opinion - Valve's Steam Box.
CES 2013 - First up, Antec showed off its GX700, a budget-priced case for gamers. It has military stylings and a price tag that won't break the bank. It's not quite out yet, but should be soon. Features are what you would expect from a case like this: 240mm radiator mount on the top, USB3.0, and room for a GPU 11.5-inches long.
Antec has also updated the P280 to be in white, and it looks quite good. The case is the same P280 that you have come to know and love, just with a "touch of class with a matte-white interior and exterior."
CES 2013 - Here's a picture of the old ETS-T40 cooler by Enermax:
Here's a picture of the new ETS-T40 cooler:
Now, those colors aren't just for looks. According to Enermax, the colors are the "thermal conductive coating," which is supposed to increase the cooling performance of the heatsink. The heatsink supports from socket 775 and AM2 up to the latest sockets from both Intel and AMD.
CES 2013 - We knew Westinghouse were going to show off their 110-inch 4K-capable TV at CES, at the time the pricing wasn't unveiled, but now we have some details on that pricing.
Westinghouse will be selling their 110-inch 4K TV for $300,000 - yes, $300k. It sports close to 180-degree viewing angles, and beautiful colors, reports Engadget. The unit on show was an engineering test model, so the back of it was naked and showing all of its wrinkles and dangly bits - well, cables and circuit boards, but whatever.
For $300,000 you do get a huge TV, custom installed through special order which will be by the end of Q1 2013.
CES 2013 - Here I am thinking Samsung would save the bigger announcements for Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month, but the South Korean electronics giant has unveiled their 8-core processor known as Exynos 5 Octa.
Samsung's Exynos 5 Octa is based on ARM's new big.LITTLE technology which switches between two clusters of four cores each. The two clusters come in the form of an ARM Cortex-A15 processor used for performance, and a Cortex-A7 which will handle the common tasks which will provide better battery life.
At the moment, processors can change frequency and voltage on-the-fly, which provides better battery life, or higher performance depending on the task at hand. This new Exynos 5 Octa isn't the first chip that sports separate cores for heavy and light workloads, but the South Korean company are saying that they can cut power consumption by up to 70% compared to their Exynos 5 Dual, all by being able to take on common jobs with the lower-voltage A7 cores.

CES 2013 - I want a pair of Google Glasses pretty bad, and this isn't helping - Electrical Lead for the Google Glass project, Russ Mirov, was caught wearing the augmented reality headset at CES 2013.
There's not much news to make of this, other than the picture snapped above, but by the looks of things he'd be looking up high to see the screen itself. They look a bit prototype-y with the metal hanging over the nose, but they are a while from being purchased by consumers.
CES 2013 - I visited Digital Storm's suite and the focus of the room really was this massive system known as the Aventum. A fully customizable system, the Aventum starts at just shy of $5,000 and can run all the way up to $8,000 or more. It sits in a case custom designed by Digital Storm and fabbed locally in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The case is simple and elegant, and the model they were showing off in the suite, and subsequently at the Intel party tonight, featured hard-plumbed watercooling, an Intel 3970K, dual EVGA GTX 690s, and a plethora of other high performance components.
It features the Digital Storm A.R.E.S. cooling system, which allows lights, fans, and monitoring to be controlled from within Windows. If you're in the market for a new system, you should definitely check the Aventum out.

CES 2013 - Chris and Paul just got done with their visit to the Kingston suite at CES where they got to see some really cool stuff going on.
The most exciting was a system that Kingston prepared for the show that was running no less than 24 Kingston E100 400GB SSD's. The PC was configured with an Intel Xeon E5-2650 CPU, 128GB of Kingston memory and three LSI MegaRAID 9265-8i RAID controllers. Just forget the price of such a computer for a moment...
All of that madness was able to achieve a massive 1.8 million IOPS. Need to copy some files? How about read speed performance of 7000MB/s (yes, seven thousand megabytes per second!) and write speed performance of 4400MB/s.
Our latest poll had almost 7,000 people who answered, "Has Apple ($AAPL) seen its best days? Are they now on a downtrend?"
It's rather clear that TweakTown readers believe that Apple has indeed seen its best days, with 78% of readers voting that the tech giant is now on a downtrend. Some disagreed with 14% of our readers answering no to the poll question, while 8% were still sitting on the fence with their judgment on the matter.
For the actual numbers, go here. In our latest poll, we ask you... "What are you most likely to buy? (new CES 2013 products)" Let us know! Go here to vote!
CES 2013 - JVC is no stranger to launching flagship, ground-breaking HD camcorders at CES. Last year they released on of the first 4k camcorders made. This year it is a more affordable handheld camcorder capable of 1080P capture.
Launched earlier today at CES, the JVC Procision GC-PX100 is a 1,920 x 1,080 video capturing monster. It shoots at 36Mbps, a rate that makes it perfect for slow motion capture. Boasting a F/1.2 lens with a 1/2.3" 12.8 megapixel black side illuminated CMOS sensor the GC-PX100 is capable of cranking out up to 600 frames per second.
The device is also able to capture still images at burst rates of nine per second. Also worth mentioning, is that the camera is WiFi enabled, and users can send the video to a phone or PC with the push of a button. The Procision GC-PX100 is on the upper end of consumer camcorders at $1000, but we can see this selling fast to athletic groups.
CES 2013 - When the Kickstarter project Pebble broke $10 million in crowd-sourced funding, a lot of critics said that they would never succeed, but it seems that the people behind the project have succeed and will begin shipping units to its funders by January 23rd. The guys behind Pebble announced the shipping date at their booth at CES 2013.
The Pebble is just one of many so called "Smart Watches" to hit the market lately. Apple and Microsoft have both been rumored to be working on their own intelligent watch projects. For Pebble, it is not the time keeping ability that has appealed to so many, but rather its e-paper display and API that will allow for app developers to create some cool apps for the device.
Pebble supports both Android and iOS and is able to connect to them through low-power Bluetooth 4.0. It includes iOS 5 and iOS 6 support out of the box and can display many notifications already.
Owners of the Kindle Touch may have been envious of the Kindle Paperwhite since it's release, but a software update just released may ease their minds a little bit. The update brings Paperwhite features to the older device.
A revamped user interface, enhanced parental controls, cloud storage, book cover view in library and store, and graphic novel support top the major features included in the update. Whispersync for Voice is also included which lets users swap between reading a Kindle book and an audible audio book without losing their place.
Another notable features is Amazon's Time To Read feature, which tells users how long it will take them to finish the book based on their pace. The software is available from Amazon now with an over-the-air update coming shortly.
CES 2013 - TP-Link has released two new ultra portable wireless pocket routers, making networking while traveling even easier. Both can be carried comfortably in a user's pocket.
The TL-WR706N "Halo" sports a 150 Mbps Wireless N connection while the TL-WR810N Wireless Poket Router provides a robust 300Mbs N connection. Both devices plug directly into a standard outlet and provide preconfigured wireless security settings.
Setup is as easy as plugging each device into a power outlet and plugging in the hotel's Ethernet cable which allows the devices to run as an access point.

CES 2013 - The company that brought us the unusual but awesome R.A.T. gaming mouse has debuted two new fully adjustable mice that feature low-power Bluetooth connectivity.
Both of the new mice are based off of the popular R.A.T. design and feature a myriad of buttons. The R.A.T.M. takes the concept of a highly precise adjustable DPI laser (up to 6400) gaming mouse and makes it portable by utilizing Bluetooth technology. The R.A.T.M is designed for use with gaming laptops and is smaller than traditional gaming mice, yet retains all of the adjustability of the R.A.T. design.
Up next we have the M.O.U.S, which is a more relaxed design but still retains that R.A.T. feel. Designed for the every day user, the M.O.U.S features a lower resolution sensor that works exceptionally well on glass and other reflective surfaces. Horizontal scrolling is included and the more tame device retains the Bluetoot connectivity of its more precise brother. Both devices will go on sale at a price point of $129.00 sometime early this year.

CES 2013 - T-Mobile, during its CES 2013 press conference, has announced that starting today a new contract-free, unlimited data plan will be available to customers for just $70 a month. The plan includes unlimited voice, unlimited data and unlimited messaging.
T-Mobile CEO John Legere said: "As the 'Uncarrier,' we're doing the unthinkable. We're directly confronting the frustrations of American consumers fed up with the cost, complexity and congested networks of our competitors. Our Unlimited 4G Data plan means 4G speeds, no caps and no overages on a smoking-fast, nationwide, 4G network. What this means is simply that T-Mobile customers are going to be able to enjoy everything a 4G smartphone is actually designed to do without limits and without a term contract."
The company is offering am un-subsidized LG Optimus L9 alongside the new plan for just $199. I really think that this is a step in the right direction. Removing the phone subsidies, and freeing customers from multiple year commitments just seems like a better business model than we have been forced to conform to over the years.
CES 2013 - Lenovo's new K900, just announced today, is the company's new flagship device and will be coming to China in April, and subsequently to other markets. It features a 5.5-inch IPS panel pumping out full HD resolution and is powered by an Intel Atom processor.
"With the K900, our team has broken down the key functions of the smartphone and redesigned them from the ground up," said Liu Jun, president, Mobile Internet Digital Home, and senior vice president, Lenovo. "Rather than focus on specifications that look good on a datasheet, we've zeroed in on what consumers want and proved that for smartphone users, top performance doesn't require a thick profile. The K900 is a game-changer that looks as good as it performs."
The thing weighs in at 162 grams, or 5.7 ounces, and stacks up at a mere 6.9mm. The camera is a 13MP Sony Exmor BSI sensor on the rear. Pricing for the device will be announced closer to the April launch.
CES 2013 - Mushkin have just stepped up to the enterprise class SSD game with the launch of their new ProSpec range of SSDs. The ProSpec SSDs sport a random read/write performance of 80K/42K IOPS with a sustained data transfer rate of 560MB/sec.
The new ProSpec drives will arrive in capacities of between 100GB and 400GB. The new drives sport commercial MLC flash which pump up to 10x the write endurance levels while delivering no performance drop over the life of the drive, which makes it a great candidate for any enterprise environment. Mushkin's new ProSpec drives also provide enhanced power-loss data protection through hardware- and firmware-based features that prepare the drive in case of an unexpected drop or loss in power.
