The Methods Engineer / Black Belt will own the development of manufacturing processes tied to a particular program or cell and will be an agent of change to improve manufacturing efficiencies. In this role you will solicit operator input, engineering design content, and material presentation options to develop detailed standard work.

•Assist in the planning, training, and quality controls, and own development and maintenance of the manufacturing methods, process routings, and standard work instructions
• Translate business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment into manufacturing directives
• Use experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives, and achieve short-term and some long-term business goals
• Develop and maintain manufacturing methods and create process routings
• Develop and maintain visual standard work instructions and training procedures
• Conduct time and motion analysis as needed to concentrate VA work, identify and eliminate NVA work, and develop appropriate performance standards as well as balance the line (or operation)
• Design and program manage the building / procurement of necessary tooling; manage to established budgets and timelines
• Conduct cost/benefit analysis for changes to processes and/or equipment ; support equipment upgrades, providing program management from procurement through installation
• Support EHS projects in cell ensuring processes contribute to a safe work environment; where possible, work to incorporate environmental objectives into the process solutions (e.g., devise ways to decrease trash, or to decrease the amount waste produced from an operation)
• Support the quality function through integration of ISO / QC documentation and Manufacturing methods Instructions
• Lead high impact process and quality improvement projects yielding significant reduction in defects and increased productivity in the cell
– Drive Process Improvement / Cycle Reduction initiatives and drive productivity improvements via process changes or improvements
– Work with management to identify and reduce sources of labor efficiency variation
– Work with management, QTAs, and operators to identify and reduce product quality issues caused by process variation
• Track and drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for all cell issues
• Coordinate with the new technology initiatives (NTI) and share best practices with other locations to improve manufacturability of the final product
• Utilize lean-manufacturing principles and participate in action workouts to improve process capability, reduce overall costs and increase capacity

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of experience in process improvement)
• At least 3 additional years of experience in a Process Improvement position
