Format for submissions
Your email should have two sections: one for additions and one for deletions. If a rule needs to be amended, list it in the deletions section, and list the correct rule in the additions section.
Rules should be in the following format:
- There should be one rule per line.
- Each rule should list the entire public suffix, with the subdomain portions separated by dots (.) as usual. A leading dot is optional.
- The wildcard character * (asterisk) will match any valid sequence of characters.
- Wildcards may only appear as an entire level of a rule. That is, they must be surrounded by dots (or implicit dots, at the beginning of a line).
- An exclamation mark (!) at the start of a rule marks an exception to a previous wildcard rule. An exception rule will be used instead of any other matching rule.
Here is an example:
com
*.uk
// Hosts in .hokkaido.jp can't set cookies below level 4...
*.hokkaido.jp
*.tokyo.jp
// ...except hosts in pref.hokkaido.jp, which can set level 3.
!pref.hokkaido.jp
!city.shizuoka.jp
!metro.tokyo.jp
The example above would be interpreted as follows:
- Cookies may be set for <anything>.com.
- Cookies may be set for <anything>.<something>.uk.
- Cookies may not be set for <anything>.uk (implicit from previous rule).
- Cookies may be set for <anything>.<something>.hokkaido.jp and <anything>.<something>.tokyo.jp.
- Cookies may not be set for <anything>.hokkaido.jp or <anything>.tokyo.jp (implicit from previous rules).
- Cookies may be set for pref.hokkaido.jp, city.shizuoka.jp and metro.tokyo.jp, even though the previous rule would not allow it.
