Integrated Search
The Firefox Search bar comes pre-loaded with Google, Yahoo, Amazon, eBay, Answers.com, and Creative Commons search. Wherever you are on the Web, you can enter a search term in the Search bar and receive immediate answers from the search engine you've chosen. You can select a new search engine from the Search bar menu at any time.
It's easy to add more search engines to the Firefox Search bar. There are hundreds to choose from, including the Internet Movie Database, Technorati blog search, and Craiglist online classifieds.

Drag and Drop Search
Select text on a Web page, and drag and drop it onto the Search bar to perform a search with your currently selected engine. Copy and paste works, too.
Location Bar Search
In the Location bar, instead of typing in a complete URL, try typing a phrase that describes where you want to go. For example, try entering "Williams Sonoma", "New York Times", or "Yahoo Mail" in the Location bar, and then hit the Enter key. The Location bar uses Google's "I'm Feeling Lucky"™ search tool, and should take you directly to the site you were looking for.
Find in Page
To search for terms within the current page, press Ctrl-F (Windows/Linux) or Cmd-F (Mac), and then start typing the text you want to find. The Find Bar will appear at the bottom of the Firefox window, and matching text will be highlighted as you type.
