Spreadsheet Demo Script

Setting Up

  1. Go to  http://www.mozilla.org/ .
  2. Follow link for Gecko M10 or later.
  3. Install Gecko on your machine.
  4. For your convenience, use Start->Settings->Taskbar to create menu item for apprunner.exe.
  5. Unzip the demo directory into a top level disk directory like C:\spreadsheet (you'll have to type the URL in manually).

Starting AppRunner and Opening the Demo

  1. Start apprunner.exe by doubleclicking it or using your Windows menu pick.
  2. In the Location bar, type C:\spreadsheet\spreadsheet24.html and hit return TWICE (File-->Open doesn't work.)

Introduction

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. I'm going to demonstrate Gecko, Netscape's new high performance browser engine. Gecko has been designed from the ground up to be small, speedy, and standards compliant. The Gecko browser engine itself fits on a single floppy disk, enabling Netscape to release a client which will be as small as 3MB for the minimum configuration. Gecko is speedy, displaying web pages up to ten times faster than previous browsers. Gecko is also the first fully standards compliant browser ever, featuring full support for: Finally, Gecko has been developed using open source, ensuring high quality.

I'm going to show you a demo of a spreadsheet. This spreadsheet looks like a desktop application and has an interactive user interface, but it's been implemented as a web page using W3C standards. Gecko's full support for W3C standards saves developers from having to study proprietary or platform-dependent technologies.
