This sample test case contains of this webpage and a single flash movie displayed below. The flash movie contains two text fields and one button. The first text field will be populated dynamically, and if everything works it will contains URL of the page. The second text field will contain the flash player version.
The flash movie, once loaded, will call the javascript function sendToFlash() available within this page, and this function will then call the SetVariable method of the flash movie, thus setting the content of the first text field. You can also use the cyan button below the fields within this movie, which will call this function manually from within flash; or you can click the link "call SetVariable" which will call the javascript function sendToFlash() directly.
Browsers that work fine, on WindowsXP: Internet Explorer 6, Opera 7.50 both with Flash Player 7.0.19.0; on Linux: Mozilla 1.7/Gecko20040616 with Flash Player 7.0.25.0 Browsers tested and affected by this issue, all on WindowsXP with Flash Player 7.0.19.0: Mozilla 1.7.5/Gecko/20041217, Mozilla 1.7/Gecko20040616, Mozilla 1.6/Gecko/20040113, Mozilla 1.4/Gecko/20030624, Firefox 1.0.1/Gecko/20050223 - the default install is always affected, but reinstalling the flash player plugin corrects the problem. The issue here, however, is that the flash player appears to be installed after the default installation (flash movies will play), but in fact, it is not installed correctly.
