Is the link relative?
The file extension .xyz is associated with the app Foo in my Windows OS. My presentation should get a link to the file. When I cklick the link in presentation mode, the file will be opened in the app Foo.
Goal
Insert Link
MenuInsert > Hyperlink
or
CTRL+K
Use categoryDocument
and the file picker buttontop-right
Do you worry about
this ?
Lets move the entire folder to a new place and look, what we get then.
The shown path depends on the place, where the folder is saved.
before moving
after moving
What do you actually see?
Look! The link is on the last slide.
? How is that?
An .odp file is actually a package. So let us unpack it and examine the link.
<draw:frame draw:style-name="gr10" draw:text-style-name="P8" draw:layer="layout" svg:width="7.43cm" svg:height="1.187cm" svg:x="1.37cm" svg:y="7.4cm">
<draw:text-box>
<text:p>
<text:a xlink:href="../small.mp4" xlink:type="simple">Play Sample Video</text:a>
</text:p>
</draw:text-box>
</draw:frame>
In the file content.xml you will find this element in the last slide:
<text:a xlink:href="../small.mp4" xlink:type="simple">
Play Sample Video
</text:a>
Here the relevant part a little bit larger
Now you see, the link is stored as relative path. The link will work as long as you always move the entire folder.
Run the presentation, goto last slide, click on the link and your app, which is associated to .mp4, should play the video.
Play Video
Play Sample Video
